Last week, we discussed seeking medical attention for injuries from a motor vehicle accident promptly. A source to help pay for medical care is motor vehicle insurance Medical Payments coverage. In Maine, all drivers must have motor vehicle insurance, which includes Medical Payments coverage with a minimum of $2,000.00 benefits per person. Some policies have higher Medical Payments coverage. Medical Payment coverage pays for medical expenses due to motor vehicle accidents for the driver and passengers. If you do not have automobile insurance and are a passenger in someone else’s vehicle, you can access Medical Payments from the driver’s automobile insurance. To access Medical Payments, inform your health care provider of the insurance company name and the claim number and ask them to submit it for Medical Payment benefits. Drive safe out there!
